Earl Stein, Ph.D.  

Earl Stein is a Supervisory Engineering Research Psychologist with the Human Factors Team-Atlantic City at the FAA  William J. Hughes Technical Center. He has held this position since June 1999. Dr. Stein received his Ph.D. from the University of New Hampshire in 1971 and then spent six years in the US Army as a Health Services Research Psychologist.  He worked for the Army Research Institute for the Behavioral and Social Sciences from 1977-1981 developing and testing training concepts.

Dr. Stein has been with the FAA since 1981. Until he became a manager, he served as a researcher and technical lead doing both cockpit and air traffic control human factors research. He has taught both graduate and undergraduate courses at The University of New Hampshire, Georgia State, Northeastern University, Northern Virginia Community College, Stockton College, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, and Atlantic Cape Community College.

Dr. Stein has published extensively in  human factors and applied psychology. He has over 100 publications, including co-editorship of a book Human Factors in Air Traffic Control (1998, Academic Press).
