Todd Truitt, PhD.

Todd Truitt is an engineering research psychologist with the Human Factors Branch. He has conducted research in air traffic control since 1993. As an undergraduate, he majored in psychology at the University of Kansas. He received the B.A. degree with Honors and Distinction in 1991 and he is a member of Phi Beta Kappa. After teaching community living skills to developmentally disabled adults for two years, Todd entered graduate school at the University of Oklahoma. He received the M.S. degree in experimental and cognitive psychology in 1996 and then completed a one-year internship at the Federal Aviation Administration’s Research, Development, and Human Factors Laboratory. Todd received a Ph.D. in experimental and cognitive psychology from the University of Oklahoma in 1999.

Dr. Truitt’s professional service includes serving as a peer reviewer for the journal Air Traffic Control Quarterly, book reviewer for the Journal of Applied Cognitive Psychology, and as a chapter reviewer for the Handbook of Applied Cognition. Although Dr. Truitt primarily conducts applied research, he also has an academic interest in expertise and chess. Dr. Truitt is a private pilot and a veteran of the U.S. Army.
